Go Green This Holiday Season – 12 Great Eco-Friendly Gifts

Looking to go green this Christmas? Here’s a list of some of my favorite products that also make great eco-friendly gifts. While not specifically a list of travel products, all of those eco-friendly gifts can be used at home or on the road.

With items ranging in price from less than $10 to $150, there’s something for everyone on your list!

1) TRTL mask

It’s estimated that 194 billion disposable masks and gloves are being used worldwide each month. Purchasing a high-quality, reusable mask is better for the environment and they are more comfortable.

I recently became a brand ambassador for TRTL Travel and was thrilled because their Travel Neck Pillow is my favorite! So when they gifted me their new TRTL Protect Face Mask I couldn’t wait to try it. Not only is it a fantastic mask, but it is also reusable and washable making it a better option than one-time-use masks. This is the perfect eco-friendly gift for 2020!

2) Reusable Plastic bags

There are a million reusable plastic bags out there and I’ve tried most of them! These are my favorites because they are lightweight, seal well, and are easy to clean. Bonus points for standing up on their own.

While I use these everyday in my kitchen, I also use then when traveling. A great eco-friendly gift would be a set of bags and one or two filled with homemade cookies or candies!

3) Quip Toothbrush

I use electric toothbrushes exclusively. It wasn’t until I discovered Quip toothbrushes, that I found one that works great, is affordable and uses less plastic than other electric brands (and traditional toothbrushes). I keep one at home and one in my travel bag.

Quip is a subscription service where you buy the toothbrush and then receive new brush heads every three months, per American Dental Association recommendations. Another great option for your loved one that is better for the environment (and great for their teeth)!

4) Liquids Bag

I include these TSA compliant liquid bags on all of my travel-related gift lists. Why? Because you get two reusable plastic bags for about $7, they are roomy and sturdy, and using replaces using disposable plastic bags.

5) Soap Container

Another eco-friendly favorite of mine is this little soap container. I prefer to travel with my own soap and this case allows me to do that without a mess. And its compact size means it doesn’t take up my space in my bag. This item also comes with two containers making it a great stocking stuffer!

6) Water Bottle

You’ll rarely see me at home or on the road without a refillable water bottle. It’s one of the easiest ways to reduce single-use plastic. I usually carry a plastic bottle but I’ve become a recent convert to metal bottles. They are virtually indestructible and I like how they retain temperature.

This is a well-priced option that comes in a rainbow of fun colors.

7) Reusable Cotton Rounds

I love these reusable cotton rounds! They replace disposable cotton rounds or cotton balls and work great. They get softer as you wash them and are a great way to reduce waste in your bathroom.

8) Beeswax Wraps

I’ve been using beeswax wraps for years as a way to reduce single-use plastic. This set of 6 from Natissy is by far the best I’ve found. They have bright happy designs, and work really well.

9) Kindle/I-Pad

As a lifelong book lover, I never thought I would convert to an e-reader. But convert I did and have never looked back. Using an e-reader saves me money and saves trees. A win-win.

10) Pela Phone Case

Did you know that over a billion plastic phone cases are made each year?! Pela makes phone cases that are 100% compostable. One Pela case is the equivalent of 27 plastic bags staying out of landfills. In addition to phone cases, Pela also makes biodegradable airpod cases and smart watch bands.

At the time of this writing, Pela phone cases are buy one get one free and free shipping over $20. This means you can get a case for yourself and an eco-friendly gift for someone else for a song!

11) Athleta Skyline Pant

Athleta’s Skyline pant is my favorite to wear when traveling. You may not think about clothing being good eco-friendly gifts, but these are! Not only are they super comfy and stylish, but they are also made from recycled polyester! They are also breathable, wrinkle-resistant, and rated UPF 50+ protection. Read my full review and see why these are some of my favorite pants!

12) Allbirds Shoes

I included Allbirds in my 5 Favorite Shoes for travel because they are comfortable, stylish, and can be worn in a variety of situations. And they are made from sustainable fabrics like wool, tree, and sugar. Allbirds as a company is committed to reducing their product and company’s carbon footprint making these a purchase you can feel good about.
