About

Welcome to Where I’ve Been!  Do you want to travel more but don’t know where to start, where to go, or afraid you can’t afford to?

I’m Candy and here I will share my travels and what I’ve learned while traveling for business and pleasure.  My hope is to inspire, encourage, and help you travel so you can share where you’ve been.

I’m based in beautiful Lexington, Kentucky and love my home. But the world is too big of a place to not get out and explore it!

You won’t find super luxurious, super daring, fantasy trips here.  You will find reviews of the places I visit, the best travel gear used by someone that takes more than 30 trips a year, and where to get great eats.

Most of my travel for work is in the United States and I love exploring this beautiful country of ours. But I get super excited when I get to pull out my passport and explore the world. Most of these trips are shared with my husband and daughter. I love hitting the road with my girlfriends too!

Getting to and from a place can be brutal so I’ll share my travel strategies and favorite gear for making the journey a little easier. I’m a great shopper and will let you in on what works and hopefully, how to save some money.

For me one of the best parts of travel is exploring new food!  I love to eat for food, shop for food, cook food, talk about food – you get the picture.  So expect to see lots of food around these parts!  Several years ago I even blogged about cooking at www.candygirlky.com.

I am so fortunate to have visited 47 countries.  While trips to Paris, Lisbon, Ecuador, and Costa Rica have been among my most memorable, I find there is always something interesting to see and lovely people to meet no matter where you are.  I also find that the most meaningful travel experiences are those that are unexpected and involve being open to other people.

I want to inspire you to travel, even if it is just an hour down the road.  There is so much to see out there.  Let’s be friends, follow me on social media for bonus tips and inspiration you won’t find here!
